## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) GEAR RETRACTION WAS NORMAL AFTER TAKEOFF, BUT UPON EXTENSION, THE GEAR SAFE LIGHT DID NOT EXTEND. THE PILOT RETRACTED THE GEAR ELECTRICALLY, BUT A SECOND ATTEMPT AT EXTENSION ALSO FAILED. PILOT FLEW BY TOWER AND A HELICOPTER IN THE AREA VERIFIED THAT THE GEAR WAS NOT FULLY EXTENDED. THE PILOT MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO EXTEND THE GEAR MANUALLY, BUT THIS WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE PILOT IS AWARE OF A PROCEDURE TO FORCE THE GEAR DOWN USING A PRYBAR THROUGH AN OPEN DOOR, BUT SINCE HE WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT OF THE AIRCRAFT, HE ELECTED TO RETRACT THE GEAR AND TO LAND GEAR UP. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA O^ IS NEGOTIATING WITH HIS INSURANCE COMPANY ABOUT THE REPAIRS, AND THE SYSTEM HAS NOT YET BEEN INSPECTED.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
