## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) WITNESS STATED AIRCRAFT MADE A NORMAL DOWN WIND AT M11 FOR RUNWAY 17, THE AIRCRAFT TURNED BASE WAY TOO CLOSE AND FINAL WAS TOO HIGH AND FAST. HE HEARD THE ENGINE ACCELERATE. THE AIRCRAFT WENT BEHIND A TREE LINE AND COULD NOT BE SEEN BY THE WITNESS, BUT HE HEARD A LOUD THUD AND THE ENGINE SOUND WAS NOT HEARD. FLAPS WERE FULL DOWN. PILOT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED FATAL INJURIES AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW05FA251](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW05FA251), Oct 1, 2005: Cessna 150M (N45339), Crystal Springs, MS, destroyed, 2 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to retract the flaps during the go-around and his failure to maintain airspeed, which resulted in an inadvertent stall. A contributing factor was the dark night conditions.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
