## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT REPORTED THAT THIS WAS A SHORT FLIGHT FROM PIERCE COUNTY-THUN FIELD, PUYALLUP, WASHINGTON TO HIS HOME BASE AT TACOMA NARROWS AIRPORT, GIG HARBOR, WASHINGTON. THE PILOT CONTACTED THE CONTROL TOWER AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO REPORT A LEFT BASE ENTRY FOR RUNWAY 17. HE STATED HE NOTICED A LOSS OF ELETRICAL POWER WHEN HE LOWERED THE LANDING GEAR AND TURNED OFF NON-ESSENTIAL ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT. THE GEAR DOWN LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO LOOK FOR THE GEAR IN THE GEAR MIRROR WITHOUT SUCCESS. HE STATED THAT HE FELT THE DRAG OF EXTENDED GEAR AND ASSUMED THE GEAR WAS DOWN. THE PILOT STATED HE WAS UNSURE IF THE CONTROL TOWER SAW HIM AND HE MADE A LOW PASS OVER THE RUNWAY AND RETURNED FOR LANDING. THE GEAR WAS PARTIALLY EXTENDED ON LANDING CAUSING STRUCTURAL DAMAGE TO THE GEAR BOX. THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR TESTED SATISFACTORY AND THE CAUSE OF THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE IS UNKNOWN AT THIS TIME.

## NTSB investigation

None matched to this report by aircraft and date. Search the NTSB's own records: https://data.ntsb.gov/carol-main-public/basic-search

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
