## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ACCORDING TO STATEMENTS MADE BY CFI, THE STUDENT, AND OWNER/PASSENGER, DURING CLIMBOUT AFTER A TOUCH AND GO ON RUNWAY 22, THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND QUIT AT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET AGL. THE CFI IMMEDIATELY ASSUMED CONTROL OF THE AIRPLANE, AND BANKED TO THE LEFT IN AN EFFORT TO AVOID A PARKING LOT AND BUILDINGS BEYOND THE DEPARTURE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN IN THE GRASS APPROXIMATELY 20 FEET FROM THE EDGE OF TAXIWAY A, THEN IMPACTED A TAXIWAY SIGN WITH THE LEFT MAIN GEAR BEFORE COMING TO A REST ON THE TAXIWAY. THE LEFT MAIN GEAR WAS FOLDED BACK AGAINST THE FUSELAGE, THE NOSE GEAR WAS SEVERELY TWISTED, AND THE LEFT WING & HORIZONTAL STABILIZER SUSTAINED DAMAGE FROM THE ENSUING GROUND LOOP. A POST-ACCIDENT ENGINE INSPECTION REVEALED A CLEAN & AMPLE FUEL SUPPLY, FUNCTIONAL CARBURETOR AND MAGNETOS, AND NO BLOCKAGE IN FUEL LINES OR EXHAUST SYSTEM.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
