## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 15, 2005, A VANS/HARMEL RV6, N221MH, PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA O^ WAS ON FINAL APPROACH TO RUNWAY 24 AT OCEANSIDE (OKB) AIRPORT. WINDS WERE AT 30 DEGREES @ APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. ACFT LANDED HARD ON NOSE GEAR, BOUNCED AND COLLAPSED THE NOSE GEAR. ACFT THEN FLIPPED OVER. PILOT AND PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. THERE WAS NO POST ACCIDENT FIRE. ACFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA019](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA019), Oct 15, 2005: Harmel RV6A (N221MH), Oceanside, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot-induced oscillations encountered on landing following the pilot's misjudged landing flare and premature release of elevator backpressure during touchdown.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
