## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT ALLOWED SAILPLANE TO GET TOO LOW AND SLOW ON FINAL APPROACH. SAILPLANE STALLED, PILOT ATTEMPTED RECOVERY, BUT WAS TOO LOW. SAILPLANE IMPACTED BERM 100' FROM THRESHOLD AND BOUNCED ONTO RUNWAY.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL06LA008](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL06LA008), Oct 16, 2005: Elan/Glaser Dirks DG-300 (N300HX), Brownsboro, AL, substantial damage, 1 fatal. Probable cause: The pilot's misjudgment of distance/altitude on final approach which resulted in an undershoot of the runway, and an in-flight collision with a embankment. A factor was the dirt bank/rising terrain.

## Other reports on N300HX (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19950828032869A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19950828032869A), Aug 28, 1995: Glaser DG300 (N300HX), Truckee, CA, Destroyed. High sink rate on final. Impacted bluff short of runway. Misjudged wind and altitude.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
