## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 17, 2005, AT APPROXIMATELY 1425 HOURS PDT, CAPTAIN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ ACTING AS PILOT IN COMMAND OF N39FS, A NORTH AMERICAN T39A, LANDED ON RUNWAY 8 AT MOJAVE AIRPORT (MHV), MOJAVE, CA. HE WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT ON THE RUNWAY, SLIDING OFF THE RIGHT SIDE AT THE EAST END. THERE WERE NO INJURIES TO THE CREW, THE ONLY ONES ABOARD, BUT THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE WHEN THE NOSE GEAR FAILED PUSHING A HYDRAULIC RESERVOIR THROUGH THE PRESSURE VESSEL.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06LA017](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06LA017), Oct 17, 2005: North American T-39A (N39FS), Mojave, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control during the landing roll. A wet runway surface was a factor.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
