## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT 2.5 HOURS INTO THE FLIGHT, THE ENGINE FAILED DUE TO FUEL STARVATION. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED A FORCED LANDING, BUT WAS UNABLE TO MAKE A SUITABLE FIELD. THE AIRPLANE TOUCHED DOWN IN A ROUGH PLOWED FIELD AND BROKE THE NOSE GEAR, WHICH CAUSED FURTHER DAMAGE WHEN THE NOSE IMPACTED THE GROUND. IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO MAKE A CERTAIN DETERMINATION AS TO HOW MUCH FUEL WAS IN THE AIRPLANE AT THE BEGINNING OF THE FLIGHT. THE SELLER OF THE AIRPLANE STATED THE PILOT LEFT WITHOUT FULL TANKS. THE PILOT WHO HAD JUST PURCHASED THE AIRPLANE STATED THE SELLER HAD FILLED THE TANKS BEFORE LEAVING. THERE ARE SEVERAL POSSIBLE EXPLANATIONS, BUT BECAUSE THERE WAS NO FUELING RECORDS KEPT AND THE CONFLICTING VERSIONS BY DIFFERENT PEOPLE, IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE WITH CERTAINTY, THE AMOUNT OF FUEL IN THE AIRPLANE AT DEPARTURE.

## Other reports on N114CH (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Incident 20190715011809I](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20190715011809I), Jul 15, 2019: Daub Kenn PIONEER 300 JS (N114CH), Bucyrus, OH, No damage. The pilot stated that the aircraft was reporting fuel tanks at half capacity, the aircraft lost power and I was later determined that the fuel tanks were empty.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
