## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) N9234V A PA28-161, OPERATED BY FLIGHT SAFETY TRAINING ACADEMY AND PILOTED BY ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED LANDED ON RUNWAY 11R AT VERO BEACH FL ON 10/19/05 AT 1210 PM. WINDS WERE 050 AT 15 KTS. THE PILOT WHO WAS THE SOLE OCCUPANT FAILED TO MAINTAIN CROSSWIND CONTROL INPUTS AFTER TOUCHDOWN AND ROLLOUT RESULTING IN THE AIRCRAFT WEATHERVANING TO THE LEFT, EXITING THE RUNWAY AND STRIKING THE AIRPORT SIGNAGE. ## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA06CA011](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA06CA011), Oct 19, 2005: Piper PA-28-161 (N9234V), Vero Beach, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The failure of the pilot to maintain directional control of the airplane during the landing roll resulting in the on-ground collision with runway signs.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
