## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PER THE PILOT "I WAS ON TAKE OFF ROLL ON RUNWAY 06 AND AS THE AIRPLANE ACCELERATED, MY SEAT SLID ALL THE WAY BACK. I COULD NOT REACH THE PEDALS AND AT ABOUT 50-100 YARDS FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE RUNWAY, THE PLANE LEFT THE GROUND TO A HEIGHT OF ABOUT 5 FT. I WAS HOLDING THE WHEEL AND THE PLANE MOVED OFF TO THE LEFT AND LANDED IN THE BRUSH. PERFORMED A WEIGHT AND BALANCE CALCULATION FOR THIS A/C USING THE MOST CURRENT ONE FROM THE A/C. THE A/C APPEARS TO BE IN WEIGHT AND BALANCE BUT THE FORWARD SEAT LIMIT WOULD BE AT THE MAX LIMIT WITH THE PILOT AND THE 170 POUND PASSENGER.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC06CA013](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC06CA013), Oct 21, 2005: Cessna 172K (N46475), West Milford, NJ, substantial damage. Probable cause: A loss of aircraft control as a result of the installation of an improper pilot seat which moved during the takeoff roll/run..

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
