(-23) WHILE OPERATING AT VERY LOW ALTITUDE AND HIGH SPEED THE PILOT PERFORMED A MANEUVER SIMILAR TO A WINGOVER. AS THE AIRCRAFT WAS DESCENDING RAPIDLY A NOISE IN THE CARGO AREA OF THE AIRPLANE CAUSED THE PILOT TO LOOK BACK AND WHEN HE REFOCUSED HIS ATTENTION OUTSIDE IT WAS TOO LATE TO AVOID CONTROLLED FLIGHT INTO TERRAIN. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC06LA007](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC06LA007), Oct 24, 2005: Cessna 208B (N1263Y), Unalakleet, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain altitude/clearance from terrain while performing a low altitude maneuver.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
