## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 25, 2005 AT APPROXIMATELY 0655 LOCAL TIME, CAPTAIN ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ REPORTED FOR DUTY FOR AIR TRAN FLIGHT 594 SCHEDULED TO DEPART AT 0755 TO TAMPA, FL. CA ^PRIVA^ APPEARED TO BE INTOXICATED AND SMELLED LIKE ALCOHOL. A SUPERVISOR FROM AIR TRAN NOTIFIED AIR COM AND ADVISED THE LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FAA AIR TRAN COMPANY PROCEDURES AND FAA PROCEDURES WERE FOLLOWED FOR ALCOHOL AND DRUGS. CAPTAIN ^PRIVA^ NEVER BOARDED THE AIRCRAFT. ANOTHER CAPTAIN WAS CALLED IN, AND THE SCHEDULED FLIGHT DEPARTED LATE TO TAMPA, FL WITHOUT INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
