## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE FLIGHT DEPARTED KMHR ENROUTE TO KMCC. THE CREW ENTERED THE TRAFFIC PATTERN TO RUNWAY 16 AND INITIATED THE BEFORE LANDING CHECKLIST. THE CREW BECAME DISTRACTED BY A HELICOPTER REPORTING POSITION OVER THE RUNWAY. THE CHECKLIST FLOW WAS INTERRUPTED BY BOTH PILOTS LOOKING OUTSIDE FOR THE OTHER AIRCRAFT. WHEN THE HELICOPTER REPORTED CLEAR OF THE RUNWAY, THE CREW RESUMED THE CHECKLIST AND CONFIGURED THE AIRCRAFT FOR LANDING. DURING THE FLARE, THE PIC NOTICED THAT THE LANDING GEAR WAS NOT DOWN AND IMMEDIATELY LOWERED THE GEAR HANDLE TO THE DOWN POSITION. AT THAT SAME TIME, THE AIRCRAFT SETTLED ON THE RUNWAY AND SKIDDED TO A STOP. THE AIRCRAFT RECEIVED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND BOTH CREWS WERE NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA028](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA028), Oct 27, 2005: Learjet 25D (N888DV), Sacramento, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to extend the landing gear and to verify they were in the down and locked position prior to touchdown. A related factor was his diverted attention.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
