## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT GROUND LOOPED AND THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED DURING THE LANDING ROLL. WHEN THE PILOT ENTERED THE VICINITY OF THE AIRPORT, HE MADE NOTE OF THE AIRPORT'S WINDSOCK, WHICH INDICATED A VARIABLE 10 TO 15 KNOT WIND. DURING LANDING, THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN THE LENGTH OF THE RUNWAY WHEN A GUST OF WIND WAS ENCOUNTERED. THE AIRPLANE VEERED TO THE RIGHT OF THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED TO REGAIN CONTROL, BUT THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE RIGHT WING CONTACTED TERRAIN. THE PILOT REPORTED NO PREIMPACT MECHANICAL MALFUNCTIONS OR FAILURES WITH THE AIRPLANE OR ENGINE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA022](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA022), Oct 29, 2005: Cessna T188C (N2876J), Beatty, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for gusty wind conditions and failure to maintain directional control of the airplane on the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
