## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON OCTOBER 31, 2005, AT APPROXIMATELY 12:05 PM, N41094, AN AMATEUR-BUILT MAXAIR DRIFTER AIRCRAFT DEPARTED HUMMEL (W75), VIRGINIA. THE FLIGHT WAS FOR PLEASURE AND NON-COMMERCIAL AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHY OVER COBBS CREEK, VIRGINIA. AT APPROXIMATELY 12:30 LOCAL TIME, WHILE PROCEEDING EASTERLY AT 500' ABOVE GROUND LEVEL THE ENGINE HAD A SUDDEN DROP IN RPM AND THEN STOPPED RUNNING. THE PILOT SELECTED THE LARGEST OPEN AREA WITHIN GLIDING DISTANCE AND MADE AN EMERGENCY LANDING. THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT WING AND NOSE IMPACTED THE GROUND AT APPROXIMATELY A 30-40 DEGREE ANGLE, SLID APPROXIMATELY 25 FEET AND ROTATED TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER RECEIVED MINOR INJURIES AND WERE TRANSPORTED TO A HOSPITAL IN GLOUCESTER, VIRGINIA, WHERE THEY WERE TREATED AND RELEASED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
