## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT OF AIRCRAFT CONTACTED SANFORD, FLORIDA TOWER AND REQUESTED TO LAND. SANFORD TOWER CLEARED AIRCRAFT FOR STRAIGHT IN APPROACH TO RUNWAY 9L. TOWER LOST RADAR CONTACT AND RADIO CONTACT ABOUT 7 MILES SHORT OF RUNWAY. AIRCRAFT GLANCED ROOF OF RESIDENTIAL HOME 7 MILES SOUTHWEST OF AIRPORT, RIGHT WING IMPACTED A TREE AT AN APPROXIMATE 30-DEGREE NOSE DOWN ATTITUDE SEVEN FEET FROM SURFACE, SEVERING RIGHT WING FROM FUSELAGE. NOSE OF AIRCRAFT STRUCK ROAD CAUSING THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSE, THE TOP OF THE ENGINE MOUNT TO SEPARATE FROM THE FIREWALL, AND BEND ONE PROPELLER BLADE AFT. AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TO SLIDE ON SURFACE FOR 15 FEET BEFORE LEFT WING IMPACTED A TREE SEVERING IT FROM FUSELAGE. FUSELAGE OF AIRCRAFT MADE A 90-DEGREE TURN TO THE RIGHT AFTER LEFT WING SEPARATED AND CAME TO REST 10 FEET FROM LEFT WING. FUEL WAS OBSERVED LEAKING FROM LEFT WING. NO POST ACCIDENT FIRE OCCURRED AND BOTH OCCUPANTS OF AIRCRAFT EXITED WRECKAGE WITH MINOR INJURIES. AIRCRAFT WAS DESTROYED. POST ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED FUEL SELECTOR HALF WAY BETWEEN THE RIGHT TANK POSITION AND THE OFF POSITION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
