## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AT APPROXIMATELY 09:35, MST, THE PILOT IN COMMAND OF N4562F DEPARTED PAYSON, ARIZONA (PAN) ENROUTE TO SHOW LOW, ARIZONA (SOW) IN VFR CONDITIONS. BEFORE ARRIVING AT THE SOW AIRPORT THE PILOT CHECKED THE AIRPORT CONDITIONS BY CONTACTING THE LOCAL UNICOM AND CHECKING THE WINDSOCK AT APPROXIMATELY 10:15 MST. WIND CONDITIONS WERE VARIABLE FROM THE NORTH AND NORTHEAST AT TEN KNOTS WITH OCCASIONAL GUSTS. THE PIC DECIDED TO ENTER A LEFT DOWNWIND FOR RUNWAY SIX CONSIDERING LOCAL WINDS. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT THE PILOT IN COMMAND LOST CONTROL AND THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED A GROUND LOOP. THE RIGHT MAIN LANDING GEAR BECAME DETACHED AT THE FUSELAGE AND THE RIGHT WING STRUCK THE GROUND CAUSING SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. NO OTHER PROPERTY WAS DAMAGED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA042](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA042), Nov 19, 2005: Cessna A185E (N4562F), Show Low, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for crosswind conditions and failure to maintain directional control, which resulted in a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
