## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE OWNER/PILOT AND A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR WERE MAKING A LOW PASS OVER THE OWNERS PRIVATE STRIP WHEN THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, WHO WAS FLYING, DECIDED TO TRY A LANDING. THE AIRSPEED WAS TOO HIGH AND THE LANDING WAS LONG. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR APPLIED FULL POWER FOR A GO AROUND. THE MOTOR GLIDER FAILED TO BECOME AIRBORNE AND STRUCK A TRACTOR AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY SHEARING OFF THE LEFT WING AND SPINNING THE AIRCRAFT AROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA06CA023](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA06CA023), Dec 4, 2005: Diamond Aircraft Industries HK 36 TTC (N543MD), Sandpoint, ID, substantial damage. Probable cause: Excessive speed for the landing roll and inadequate remedial action for the initial takeoff. An object near the end of the runway and snow covered surface were factors.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
