## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT THE MINDEN/TAHOE AIRPORT WHERE HE IMPACTED THE RUNWAY WITH A HARD LANDING, AND BOUNCED THE AIRCRAFT RESULTING IN LOSS OF CONTROL. THE AIRCRAFT SKIDDED ALONG THE RUNWAY BEFORE DEPARTING INTO THE DIRT WHERE THE LEFT WING TIP AND OUTER SECTION OF THE LEFT AILERON CONTACTED THE SOIL AND WAS DAMAGED. THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR PRESENTS EVIDENCE OF THE INITIAL HARD IMPACT, BENDING THE STRUT AND RIGHT WING SPAR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA047](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA047), Dec 7, 2005: North American P-51D (N251BP), Minden, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain directional control on landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
