## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PRIVATE PILOT/NEW AIRCRAFT OWNER ^PRIVA^, PERFORMED A NORMAL TAKEOFF ON RUNWAY 28 AT THE PRINEVILLE, OR (S39) AIRPORT ON A RELOCATION FLIGHT TO LAS VEGAS WITH THE FIRST STOP AT BURNS, OR (BNO). ^PRIVACY D^IS A COMM ERCIAL PILOT AND CURRENT CFI HIRED TO TRAIN AND ENDORSE A FLIGHT REVIEW TO THE PILOT ^PRIVA^ DURING THIS CROSS COUNTRY. THE AIRCRAFT LIFTED-OFF WITH A NOSE-HIGH ATTITUDE AND THE PILOT ^PRIVA^ CUT THE ENGINE TO IDLE. THE AIRCRAFT PULLED TO THE RIGHT AS THE NOSE STARTED TO LOWER. THE AIRCRAFT RELATIVELY CLOSE TO THE WAS LEVELED AS THE PILOT ^PRIVA^ INCREASED THE ENGINE POWER. THE AIRCRAFT STRUCK THE GROUND IN A HARD LANDING COLLAPSING THE TUNTRA-TIRE LANDING GEAR, STRIKING THE PROP, AND CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT. NO INJURIES TO THE PILOT OR INSTRUCTOR.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB SEA06CA025](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/SEA06CA025), Dec 9, 2005: Piper PA-18-150 (N2584S), Prineville, OR, substantial damage. Probable cause: Aircraft control not maintained by the private pilot during the initial takeoff climb, and the improper remedial action by the flight instructor. A factor was the wind gust.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
