## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT HE BEGAN TAKEOFF FROM MIDFIELD ON RUNWAY 09, WITH APPROXIMATELY 1,500 FEET OF AVAILABLE RUNWAY REMAINING. SUCH DISTANCE WAS SUFFICIENT FOR THE ERCOUPE UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS, HOWEVER, THE GRASS RUNWAY WAS SOGGY FROM PREVAILING LIGHT RAIN. THE PILOT FURTHER STATED THAT HE ABORTED THE TAKEOFF, BUT NOT IN SUFFICIENT TIME TO AVOID TRAVELING PAST THE END OF THE RUNWAY. EVIDENCE AT THE ACCIDENT SCENE REVEALED THAT THE AIRCRAFT BECAME SLIGHTLY AIRBORNE AS IT TRAVELED OVER A MILD EMBANKMENT AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY. THE NOSE WHEEL THEN DUG INTO SOFT SOIL, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP OVER ONTO ITS BACK. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE, AND THE PILOT AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA06CA027](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA06CA027), Dec 11, 2005: Ercoupe 415C (N99009), Wiersdale, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's improper planning and failure to abort the takeoff in sufficient time which resulted in the airplane overrunning the runway and nosing over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
