## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING A MULTIENGINE TRAINING FLIGHT, THE MULTIENGINE STUDENT WAS PERFORMING A SIMULATED ENGINE INOPERATIVE APPROACH AND LANDING WITH THE LEFT ENGINE SET TO ZERO THRUST. DURING TOUCHDOWN, THE STUDENT OVER-FLARED, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO BECOME AIRBORNE AT A HIGH ANGLE OF ATTACK. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR ABOARD THE AIRCRAFT TOLD THE STUDENT TO GO-AROUND. THE STUDENT ATTEMPTED TO GO-AROUND, BUT APPLIED POWER TO ONLY THE RIGHT ENGINE. SUCH ACTION CAUSED THE AIRCRAFT TO ROLL AND YAW TO THE LEFT, SUBSEQUENTLY CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT'S LEFT WING TIP AND LEFT LANDING GEAR TO STRIKE THE PAVEMENT. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR TOOK THE FLIGHT CONTROLS, COMPLETED THE GO-AROUND, AND LANDED SAFELY. THE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT WERE NOT INJURED, BUT THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB MIA06CA029](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/MIA06CA029), Dec 12, 2005: Piper PA-34-200 (N56825), Daytona Beach, FL, substantial damage. Probable cause: The flight instructor's inadequate supervision, and the student pilot's improper go-around procedures, which resulted in the airplane's left wing striking the runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
