## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT STATED THAT HE LANDED "A LITTLE" FAST AND FLOATED IN GROUND EFFECT FOR ABOUT HALF OF THE RUNWAY BEFORE TOUCHING DOWN. HE ESTIMATED HIS SPEED OVER THE APPROACH END AS 120 MPH AND HIS TOUCHDOWN SPEED FOR THIS AIRCRAFT IS APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH. HE STATED THAT HE WASN'T USED TO THE BRAKES AND USED THE BRAKES SPARINGLY. HE STATED THAT HE WAS STILL GOING FAST AS HE APPROACHED THE END OF THE RUNWAY. HE VEERED LEFT AT THE END OF THE RUNWAY ONTO A TAXIWAY WHERE HE HIT A TAXIWAY LIGHT AND THE MAIN GEAR COLLAPSED. THERE IS EVIDENCE OF A SKID MARK WHERE THE AIRCRAFT TURNED WHICH APPEARS TO HAVE COME FROM THE RIGHT MAIN GEAR. HE STATED THAT THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL ISSUES WITH THE AIRCRAFT.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA057](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA057), Dec 13, 2005: Grafton Rand KR-1 (N47186), El Cajon, CA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's attempt to turn off the runway at an excessive taxi speed.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
