## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS OPERATING FROM A BEACH STRIP ON MONTAGUE ISLAND AND HAD LANDED THERE ON DECEMBER 20, 2005, TO RETRIEVE HUNTING EQUIPMENT FROM A PREVIOUS TRIP. ON DECEMBER 22, 2005, THE PILOT TOOK OFF TO CHECK WEATHER CONDITIONS TOWARD SEWARD, ALASKA, RETURNED TO THE BEACH STRIP AND LANDED TO LOAD THE AIRCRAFT. ON DEPARTURE, PILOT FAILED TO MAINTAIN DIRECTIONAL CONTROL AND THE LEFT WING CONTACTED 20' TREES, CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO PIVOT TO THE LEFT AND CRASH. A POST ACCIDENT FIRE FURTHER DAMAGED THE AIRCRAFT. AMENDMENT TO FOLLOW.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ANC06LA014](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ANC06LA014), Dec 22, 2005: Taylorcraft F-19 (N3615T), Chenga Bay, AK, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain adequate altitude/clearance during takeoff initial climb, which resulted in an in-flight collision with trees, and subsequent collision with the ground.

## Other reports on N3615T (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19800801032249A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19800801032249A), Aug 1, 1980: Tcraft F19 (N3615T), Wasilla, AK, Substantial damage. Struck trees on final. Impacted ground off approach end of runway.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
