## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PIC REPORTED THAT THE NOSE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT EXTEND DOWN AND LOCKED DURING HIS FINAL APPROACH FOR LANDING. HE ATTEMPTED TO EXTEND THE GEAR USING THE AIRCRAFT'S EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION PROCEDURES. THE NOSE LANDING GEAR STILL SHOWED NOT LOCKED. HE DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND LANDED WITH BOTH MAIN GEARS DOWN AND LOCKED AND THE NOSE GEAR DOWN BUT NOT LOCKED. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED DURING THE LANDING ROLL OUT. POST INCIDENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THAT THE LANDING GEAR MOTOR WAS FUNCTIONING ONLY INTERMITTENTLY PREVENTING A SUCCESSFUL GEAR EXTENSION DURING MAINTENANCE CHECKS. FURTHER EXAMINATION OF THE EMERGENCY GEAR EXTENSION SYSTEM REVEALED THAT DURING THE DOWN CYCLE OF THE NOSE GEAR EXTENDING AND IF YOU PUT LIGHT PRESSURE AGAINST THE NOSE LANDING GEAR STRUT (SIMULATING AIR LOADS) THE NOSE LANDING GEAR WOULD NOT GO DOWN AND LOCKED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
