## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) SOUTHWEST AIRLINES 1952 WAS ENROUTE FROM KANSAS CITY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KMCI) TO LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (KLAX). AT 6000 FEET MSL, DEPARTING MCI, THE AIRCRAFT WAS HIT WITH WHAT FELT LIKE A LARGE BIRD ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE AIRCRAFT. ALL ENGINE INDICATIONS WERE NORMAL WITH NO FLUCTUATIONS. THE FLIGHT RETURNED TO MCI WHERE SOUTHWEST AIRLINES MAINTENANCE INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT. NO DAMAGE WAS FOUND AND ALL AIRCRAFT SYSTEMS OPERATED NORMALLY. UPON COMPLETION OF THE INSPECTION THE AIRCRAFT WAS RETURNED TO SERVICE. INCIDENT ^PRIVACY DATA ^ IS CONSIDERED CLOSED WITH THE FILING OF THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
