## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON JANUARY 15, 2006, DELTA FLIGHT 2009, A B-757 AIRCRAFT, REGISTRATION NUMBER N608DA WAS ENROUTE FROM TAMPA, FL (TPA) TO BRADLEY AIRPORT, HARTFORD, CT (BDL) WHEN THE PILOT ENCOUNTERED A FIRE IN THE LOWER LEFT CORNER OF THE PILOT'S FORWARD WINDSHIELD (L1). THE FLIGHT CREW EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH THE COCKPIT HALON FIRE EXTINGUISHER AND PULLED THE WINDSHIELD HEAT CIRCUIT BREAKER. THE PILOT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY AND DIVERTED TO SAVANNAH, GA (SAV). THE AIRCRAFT LANDED SAFELY AT SAVANNAH INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WITHOUT INCIDENT AT APPROXIMATELY 9:43 PM.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
