## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING A TRAINING FLIGHT IN THE LANDING PHASE, THE AIRCRAFT EXPERIENCED A HARD LANDING DUE TO IMPROPER FLIGHT CONTROL INPUTS BY THE PILOT BEING TRAINED. THE INSTRUCTOR PILOT WAS NOT ABLE TO RECOVER AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO THE HARD LANDING. AIRCRAFT TAILBOOM WAS DAMAGED AS A RESULT OF THE HARD LANDING.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW06CA062](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW06CA062), Jan 26, 2006: Eurocopter France AS-350-B2 (N911ES), Port Isabel, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain rotor RPM and his improper touchdown during a simulated hovering autorotation. A contributing factor was the flight instructor's delayed remedial action.

## Other reports on N911ES (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 20131020020489A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/20131020020489A), Oct 20, 2013: Eurocopter AS 350 B2 (N911ES), Canton, MS, Substantial damage. The pilot stated he was in cruise at level flight and suffered a bird strike. He made an emergency landing.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
