## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED MADE AN OFF AIRPORT LAND APPROXIMATELY 5 NAUTICAL MILES NORTH OF HORSESHOE DAM ON OR ABOUT JANUARY 30, 2006. THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR COLLIDED WITH A LOG DURING LANDING ROLL. THE RIGHT LANDING GEAR BROKE AWAY FROM THE FUSELAGE AND THE RIGHT WING WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. SEVERAL ITEMS THAT RENDERED THE AIRCRAFT UNAIRWORTHY PRIOR TO THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT WERE NOTED DURING THE INVESTIGATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA083](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA083), Jan 27, 2006: Piper J5 (N35588), Carefree, AZ, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's selection of unsuitable terrain for the precautionary landing and failure to avoid obstacles during the landing roll.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
