## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT THE DES MOINES, IA (DSM) AIRPORT. WHILE ON FINAL APPROACH ATC REQUESTED THE AIRCRAFT KEEP UP THE SPEED AND IN AN ATTEMPT TO COMPLY WITH THIS REQUEST THE AIRCRAFT ENDED UP OVER THE RUNWAY THRESHOLD WITH TOO MUCH AIRSPEED. THE PILOT SLOWED THE AIRCRAFT TO THE FLAP OPERATING SPEED AND EXTENDED THE FLAPS WHICH WERE JUST REACHING MAXIMUM EXTENSION AS THE AIRCRAFT BEGAN THE LANDING FLARE. AS THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN ON THE MAIN GEAR A GUST OF WIND HIT THE PLANE AND CAUSED IT TO BECOME AIRBORNE AGAIN. THE AIRCRAFT HIT THE GROUND IN A NOSE LOW POSITION AND STRUCK THE PROPELLER, THE PILOT REGAINED CONTROL AND TAXIED TO THE FIXED BASE OPERATOR. THE PILOT WAS THE LONE OCCUPANT AND WAS NOT INJURED.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
