## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) 1610 PST, A PITTS SPECIAL S-1 WAS LANDING AT BYRON AIRPORT, C83, ON RUNWAY 30. THE AIRCRAFT GROUND LOOPED AFTER TOUCHDOWN. THERE WAS MINOR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURIES TO THE SOLE OCCUPANT. THE PILOT STATED THAT HE WAS HOLDING THE AIRCRAFT HEADING STRAIGHT DOWN THE CENTER OF THE RUNWAY WHEN AT APPROXIMATELY 20 KTS, THE TAIL WHEEL TOUCHED DOWN AND THE PILOT LOST DIRECTIONAL CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRCRAFT VEERED OFF TO THE RIGHT, DEPARTING THE RUNWAY. DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT WAS LIMITED TO A PUNCTURE IN THE LOWER SURFACE OF THE LEFT WING. PILOT STATED THAT WINDS WERE CALM, NO CROSSWIND.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
