## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) STUDENT PILOT DEPARTED KLEW ON A SOLO CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT TO KRKD-KAUG-KLEW. PILOT DEVIATED FROM FLIGHT PLAN BY FIRST ATTEMPTING A TOUCH AND GO TO RUNWAY 35 AT KAUG. PILOT DID NOT OBTAIN WEATHER INFORMATION AWOS OR CALL UNICOM FOR AN AIRPORT ADVISORY PRIOR TO MAKING HIS APPROACH. DUE TO A QUARTERING TAILWIND, HE LANDED IN A 3-POINT ATTITUDE, APPROXIMATELY THREE QUARTERS DOWN THE RUNWAY AND 50 FEET OT THE SIDE OF THE RUNWAY ON A SNOW-COVERED GRASS AREA. PILOT STATED HE ATTEMPTED A GO-AROUND BUT TIRE MARKS ON THE GRASS DID NOT SUPPORT THIS. NOSE WHEEL COLLAPSED AFTER TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 220 FEET.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.
