## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) CAPE AIR FLIGHT KAP193 (#27), DEPARTED FROM SAN JUAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO PONCE, PR WITH THREE PASSENGERS AND ONE PILOT IN COMMAND. THE FLIGHT TO PONCE WAS UNEVENTFUL. UPON LANDING AT THE MERCEDITAS AIRPORT AT PONCE, THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED BY ITSELF. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE AIRCRAFT SUFFERED MINOR STRUCTURAL DAMAGES, MAINLY SCRATCHES. VISUAL CHECK OF THE NOSE GEAR SYSTEM REVEALED NO BROKEN PART(S) THAT COULD ALLOW THE NOSE GEAR TO COLLAPSE. DURING A REVIEW OF THE AIRCRAFT FLIGHT LOG, IT WAS NOTED THAT SEVERAL WRITE-UPS REGARDING NOSE GEAR UNLOCK INDICATION HAD BEEN ENTERED PREVIOUS TO THE INCIDENT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
