## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE SUBJECT AIRCRAFT DEPARTED (KIPT) IN VMC CONDITIONS ENROUTE TO (KCXY) AIRPORT, WHEN THE PILOT OBSERVED AN OIL PRESSURE DROP TO THE RED LINE, 10 MINUTES AFTER DEPARTURE. THE ENGINE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, WITH LOUD BANGING, AND THEN QUIT. THE PILOT MADE A NONEVENTFUL LANDING IN A FARM FIELD. NO INJURIES OR PROPERTY DAMAGE RESULTED. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATION REVEALED THE #4 ENGINE CONNECTING ROD AND PISTON EXITED THE ENGINE CASE IN THE BACKBONE AREA. THE ENGINE HAS BEEN SENT TO TELEDYNE CONTINENTAL MOTORS FOR AN FAA WITNESSED DISASSEMBLY INSPECTION. AN FAA INSPECTION REPORT WILL BE ISSUED. A FOLLOW-UP INSPECTION WITH THE OPERATOR IS PLANNED UPON RECEIPT OF THE REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
