## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT/OWNER RECENTLY ACQUIRED N761ME, A CESSNA T210M. ON THE FIRST FLIGHT AFTER ANNUAL INSPECTION HE DECIDED TO FLY THE AIRCRAFT AT/NEAR AVENGER FIELD (KSWW) IN SWEETWATER, TEXAS, DUE TO ALL OF THE ENGINE CYLINDERS BEING REPLACED. THE PILOT DEPARTED KSWW AT APPROXIMATELY 1500 LOCAL AND FLEW FOR APPROXIMATELY 1 HOUR AND ATTEMPTED TO LAND. DURING APPROACH, THE NOSE GEAR FAILED TO EXTEND. NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS WERE MADE TO LOWER THE NOSE GEAR AND NONE PREVAILED. THE PILOT DECIDED TO DIVERT TO ABILENE REGIONAL (ABI) IN ABILENE, TEXAS, BECAUSE THERE WAS EMERGENCY GROUND CREW AVAILABLE. WHEN THE PILOT REACHED ABI, HE SPOKE WITH A MECHANIC BEFORE LANDING IN AN ATTEMPT TO LOWER THE NOSE GEAR. ALL ATTEMPTS FAILED AND THE PILOT DECIDED TO LAND BEFORE DAYLIGHT WAS GONE. THE PILOT LANDED N761ME ON RUNWAY 17R AT ABI AT APPROXIMATELY 1745 LOCAL. HE LANDED ON THE MAIN GEAR AND HELD THE NOSE OFF AS LONG AS POSSIBLE. THE AIRCRAFT NOSE HIT AND SKIDDED ON THE RUNWAY RESULTING IN MINOR DAMAGE TO THE NOSE STRUCTURE OF THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
