## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) FLIGHT WAS BEING OPERATED AS "DUAL INSTRUCTION" IN PREPARATION FOR A MULTIENGINE CHECKRIDE THAT WAS TO OCCUR SHORTLY AFTER HIS LANDING. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ STATED THAT THE LANDING WAS NORMAL AND THAT HE BELIEVES HE LOWERED THE FLAP HANDLE (RAISED THE FLAPS) BUT IS NOT 100% SURE. THIS IS HIS NORMAL PROCEDURE AS HE EXPECTS HIS STUDENT TO BE WATCHING THE RUNWAY. AT A SPEED ESTIMATED BY THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ AT LESS THAN 20 MPH, THE NOSE GEAR RETRACTED FOR UNKNOWN REASONS. THE STUDENT HAD ESTIMATED THEIR SPEED AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. BOTH PILOTS STATED THE NEITHER OF THEM TOUCHED THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR ON THE ROLLOUT. ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT IS TO THE PROPELLERS, ENGINE AND AROUND THE NOSE GEAR AREA. ON-SCENE INVESTIGATION BY INSPECTORS FAILED TO FIND ANY MECHANICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE LANDING GEAR OF THIS AIRCRAFT. A RETRACTION TEST IS TO BE PERFORMED PRIOR TO RELEASING THE AIRCRAFT FOR SERVICE.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
