## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON MARCH 11, 2006 AT APPROXIMATELY 1033 LOCAL TIME, A TURBINE LANCAIR IV, N711S EXPERIENCED POWER FAILURE WHILE ON A GO AROUND AT THE BOZEMAN AIRPORT IN BOZEMAN, MONTANA. THE PILOT ATTEMPTED UNSUCCESSFULLY TO RESTART THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE WHILE MAKING AN APPROACH TO LAND ON RUNWAY 12. THE AIRCRAFT TOUCHED DOWN APPROXIMATELY 1000' FROM THE APPROACH END OF THE RUNWAY IN THE RUNWAY SAFETY AREA. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 900' FROM THE POINT OF INITIAL TOUCHDOWN. DURING THE LANDING SEQUENCE, THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED AND THE PROP AND NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT CONTACTED THE GROUND. THE MAIN GEAR ALSO EXPERIENCED SOME DAMAGE DURING THE LANDING SEQUENCE. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE FIREWALL, OR ANY OTHER MAJOR COMPONENTS OF THE AIRCRAFT. DURING THE INCIDENT, THE PILOT HAD REPORTED A FIRE SHORTLY BEFORE LANDING. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THIS WAS CAUSED BY THE PILOT TURNING ON THE IGNITERS IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESTART THE ENGINE. THE FLAMES WERE A RESULT OF FUEL FROM THE ENGINE TORCHING AND EXITING FROM THE ENGINE STACKS.

Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
