## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) DURING LOGGING OPERATIONS THE PILOT DROPPED THE LOAD AND NOTIFIED GROUND CREW THAT HE NEEDED TO GO TO SERVICE AND WOULD BE RIGHT BACK. WITNESSES STATED AS THE HELICOPTER FLEW AWAY IT SOUNDED LIKE IT LOST POWER. THE PILOT RADIOED THAT HE WAS IN TROUBLE AND SAID TO SAY GOOD-BYE. THE HELICOPTER ROLLED LEFT AND IMPACTED THE GROUND IN AN INVERTED POSITION COMING TO REST ON ITS LEFT SIDE. WRECKAGE WAS CONTAINED IN A SMALL AREA. THERE WAS NO POST CRASH FIRE. 80 GALLONS OF FUEL WAS VERIFIED REMAINING. TEAR DOWN REVEALED SEVERE DAMAGE TO THE REDUCTION GEAR BOX.
