## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THIS INCIDENT INVOLVED A FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT ON A TRAINING FLIGHT AT SKYHAVEN AIRPORT (9K4) IN WARRENSBURG, MO. THE STUDENT, WHO HOLDS A PRIVATE PILOT CERTIFICATE WITH INSTRUMENT RATING AND AN ENDORSEMENT FOR COMPLEX AIRCRAFT, WAS TRAINING TOWARD THE COMMERCIAL PILOT CERTIFICATE. THE INSTRUCTOR AND STUDENT WERE CONDUCTING REPEATED TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS TO A FULL STOP. THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR WAS INADVERTENTLY PLACED IN THE UP POSITION SOMETIME AFTER LANDING AND PRIOR TO THE LAST TAKEOFF. (A LANDING GEAR SAFETY SWITCH IS LOCATED ON THE NOSEWHEEL STRUT AND PREVENTS GEAR RETRACTION WHILE THE NOSEWHEEL IS ON THE GROUND). AS THE AIRPLANE ROTATED DURING TAKEOFF AND THE NOSEWHEEL LIFTED OFF THE GROUND, THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. THE AIRPLANE DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH AIRSPEED TO MAINTAIN FLIGHT AND SETTLED BACK TO THE RUNWAY WITH THE LANDING GEAR RETRACTED. THE LANDING GEAR SELECTOR WAS FOUND IN THE UP POSITION AFTER THE INCIDENT. NEITHER THE INSTRUCTOR NOR THE STUDENT ARE SURE OF WHEN THE LANDING GEAR GEAR SELECTOR WAS PLACED IN THE UP POSITION. INCIDENT ^PRIVACY DATA ^ IS CLOSED WITH THIS REPORT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
