## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) OPERATOR MAINTENANCE CONTROL CENTER AT OAK, NOTIFIED THE FAA THAT UPON LANDING, MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL PERFORMING THEIR POST FLIGHT WALK-AROUND INSPECTION, REPORTED THE NUMBER 2 ENGINE CORE COWL MISSING FROM THE AIRCRAFT. AIRCRAFT HAD DEPARTED EWR (NEWARK INT'L) AND FLOWN DIRECT TO OAK. OPERATING FLIGHT CREW WAS INTERVIEWED, AND REPORTED NO ANOMALIES WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE OPERATOR MAINTENANCE BASE WAS NOTIFIED IN NEWARK, NJ. THE MISSING COWLING WAS SUBSEQUENTLY LOCATED IN A FIELD ON THE DEPARTURE PATH OF NEWARK, INT'L AIRPORT, WHERE IT APPARENTLY LANDED AFTER DEPARTING FROM THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
