## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO LAND AT WELLS, NEVADA AIRPORT ON RUNWAY 8 WITH A 12 KNOT CROSSWIND FROM THE NORTH. JUST PRIOR TO TOUCH DOWN, THE AIRCRAFT DEVELOPED A HIGH SINK RATE AND BOUNCED ON THE RUNWAY THEN LIFTED OFF. THE NEXT TIME IT TOUCHED THE GROUND, THE AIRCRAFT WAS ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE RUNWAY IN THE DIRT AND SAGE BRUSH. HERE, THE NOSE WHEEL BROKE OFF THE AIRCRAFT AND THE PROPELLER CONTACTED THE GROUND CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO FLIP FORWARD. THE FUSELAGE WAS WRINKLED APPROXIMATELY ONE FOOT AFT OF THE RIGHT HAND DOOR, THE VERTICAL STABILIZER WAS CRUSHED, BOTH WING SPARS WERE DAMAGED AND THE PROPELLER BLADES WERE CURLED AND TWISTED OFF. NO INJURIES TO THE OCCUPANTS.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB LAX06CA135](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/LAX06CA135), Apr 2, 2006: Cessna T210H (N57AB), Wells, NV, substantial damage. Probable cause: the pilot's inadequate compensation for the gusty crosswind conditions and failure to maintain directional control.

## Other reports on N57AB (1)

Matched to the same aircraft by N-number and date.

- [Accident 19920526020589A](https://openairdocs.org/incident/19920526020589A), May 26, 1992: Cessna T210H (N57AB), Boulder, CO, Substantial damage. Engine lost power on climbout. Put gear down but hit runway gear intransit. Fuel pump defect and hole in fuel line.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
