## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 5, 2006, N8888B, A ROBINSON R-44 HELICOPTER, WITH ^PRIVACY DATA OMI^ PERFORMING AS PILOT-IN-COMMAND, WAS ON A CROSS COUNTRY FLIGHT FROM SCOTTSDALE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (SDL) TO BOULDER CITY, NEVADA, (61B). AT APPROXIMATELY 1515 MST, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ ENCOUNTERED MARGINAL VFR WEATHER CONDITIONS NEAR THE TOWN OF WIKIEUP, ARIZONA, AND DECIDED TO LAND THE AIRCRAFT TO AVOID WEATHER. WHILE ON APPROACH TO LAND, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ STATED THAT THE ENGINE FIRE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT FLIGHT SERVICE ON THE RADIO AND COULD NOT ESTABLISH RADIO CONTACT. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ COULD NOT GET CELL PHONE COVERAGE, AND COULD NOT CONTACT FLIGHT SERVICE VIA TELEPHONE. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ HIKED TO A LOCAL RESIDENCE AND FOUND NO ONE HOME. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ BROKE INTO THE HOME BUT FOUND THAT THE TELEPHONE WAS NOT WORKING. THE FOLLOWING DAY, THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DA^ UTILIZED THE HOMEOWNERS ATV TO DRIVE TO A LOCAL HIGHWAY AND MAKE CONTACT WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES. MECHANICS INSPECTED THE AIRCRAFT AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE ENGINE FIRE INDICATION. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
