## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE PILOT WAS DEALING WITH A COMPOUND EMERGENCY. HIS LEFT ENGINE WAS NOT PRODUCING POWER AND THE LANDING GEAR WAS NOT INDICATING DOWN. THE PILOT ELECTED TO PERFORM A SINGLE ENGINE GO-AROUND AT PVG. DURING MANEUVERING, HE ATTEMPTED TO TROUBLESHOOT THE GEAR INDICATOR LIGHTS. HE CLIMBED TO AVOID POWERLINES, GOT TOO SLOW AND LOW, AND STALLED IN THE TREE TOPS. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST ON ITS SIDE AFTER IMPACTING TREES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB NYC06LA090](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/NYC06LA090), Apr 7, 2006: Piper PA-30 (N7812Y), Norfolk, VA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain aircraft control during a single-engine go-around. A factor was the partial loss of engine power.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
