## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE STUDENT PILOT WAS ATTEMPTING TO DEPART RUNWAY 35 AT DRAYTON MUNICIPAL AIRPORT. THE PILOT STATED THAT THE WIND CAUGHT THE WIND AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS BLOWN OVER ON ITS BACK. THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSED. THE PROPELLER AND LEFT WING WERE ALSO DAMAGED. THE SOLE OCCUPANT WAS NOT INJURED.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB CHI06CA114](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/CHI06CA114), Apr 12, 2006: Piper PA-22-150 (N2555P), Drayton, ND, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during takeoff. A related factor was the high wind condition.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
