## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT BEGAN TAKEOFF ROLL ON GRASS AIRSTRIP IN KENLY NC. PRIOR TO LIFTOFF (TRANSITIONING FROM A 3 POINT ATTITUDE) THE AIRCRAFT SUDDENLY TURNED TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT WAS UNABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT. THE AIRPLANE CONTINUED TO THE LEFT, BOUNCED SIDEWAYS 2-3 TIMES, THE RIGHT GEAR SEPARATED FROM THE AIRPLANE, THE RIGHT WING DROPPED AND THE PROP STRUCK THE GROUND. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO REST AND THE PILOT SAFELY EGRESSED THE AIRCRAFT WITH NO INJURIES.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL06CA064](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL06CA064), Apr 12, 2006: Cessna L-19 (N711WN), Kenly, NC, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's continued operation of the airplane with known deficiencies (tail wheel steering) which resulted in loss of directional control during the takeoff roll, and a ground loop.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
