## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 16, 2006, AT APPROXIMATELY 1543 LCL, N620CF, A VANS RV-7 AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE DURING AN ATTEMPTED TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 14 AT HICKS AIRFIELD, FORTH WORTH, TEXAS. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ HOLDER OF AIRLINE TRANSPORT PILOT CERTIFICATE ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ INITIATED A TAKEOFF FROM RUNWAY 14. UPON LIFTING THE TAIL OFF THE RUNWAY SURFACE, THE AIRCRAFT SWERVED TO THE LEFT. THE PILOT OVERCORRECTED TO THE RIGHT AND BROUGHT THE AIRCRAFT AIRBORNE. THE AIRCRAFT IMPACTED A RAILWAY EMBANKMENT AND CAME TO REST ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RAILROAD TRACKS. THE PILOT AND HIS PASSENGER WERE NOT INJURED. AN OFF-DUTY AVIATION SAFETY INSPECTOR WAS ON-SITE AND CONDUCTED THE ON-SCENE INVESTIGATION.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DFW06CA105](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DFW06CA105), Apr 16, 2006: Parks RV-7 (N620CF), Fort Worth, TX, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to maintain directional control during the takeoff roll. A contributing factor was the prevailing crosswind.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
