## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) AFTER TAKEOFF FROM 1N7 THE PILOT STATED THE LANDING GEAR UP LIGHT DID NOT ILLUMINATE. THE GEAR WAS VIEWED FROM ANOTHER AIRCRAFT AND THE MAINS RETRACTED HOWEVER THE NOSE APPEARED TO BE IN TRANSIT. THE GEAR WAS EXTENDED AND THE MAINS WENT DOWN AND LOCKED HOWEVER THE NOSE GEAR REMAINED IN THE TRANSIT POSITION. THE PILOT DECIDED TO RETURN TO 1N7 AND LAND ON THE PAVED RUNWAY. THE ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN ON FINAL SAVING THE ENGINE AND PROPELLER AND THE AIRCRAFT SLID TO A STOP. THE PILOT'S DECISION MAKING AND RESOURCE MANAGEMENT SKILLS RESULTED IN MINIMAL DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT AND NO INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
