## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) PILOT WAS FLYING THE AIRCRAFT DOING TAKEOFF AND LANDINGS ON RUNWAY 32 AT 6A2. THE WIND WAS INITIALLY A CROSSWIND FROM 260 DEGREES. DURING HIS SECOND LANDING THE PILOT LANDED LONG DOWN THE RUNWAY AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE AIRCRAFT PRIOR TO ENTERING THE RUNWAY OVERRUN AND GOING DOWN AN EMBANKMENT COMING TO REST ON ITS TOP AFTER FLIPPING OVER NOSE TO TAIL. THE PILOT STATED THE WIND HAD CHANGED TO A STRONG LEFT QUARTERING TAIL WIND DURING HIS SECOND LANDING AND HE ELECTED NOT TO MAKE A GO-AROUND BECAUSE HE BELIEVED HE HAD SUFFICENT RUNWAY. THE AIRCRAFT HAD BEEN MOVED TO A CLOSED HANGAR BY THE TIME THE IIC ARRIVED AT THE SCENE. PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE AIRCRAFT WERE TAKEN IN THE HANGAR. THERE WERE NO WITNESSES TO THE ACCIDENT. THE PILOT REPORTED THE EVENT TO THE NTSB. THE PILOT HAS MINOR CUTS AND BRUISES ON HANDS NOTICED BY THE IIC.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB ATL06CA065](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/ATL06CA065), Apr 16, 2006: Cessna 172 M (N9970V), Griffin, GA, substantial damage. Probable cause: The pilot's failure to achieve the proper touchdown point, which resulted in an overrun of the runway, collision with an embankment, and subsequent nose over.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
