## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) ON APRIL 18, 2006, AT APPROXIMATELY 0750 MST, N961WC, A PIPER PA-28-181, WITH STUDENT PILOT ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^ PERFORMING AS PILOT-IN-COMMAND LOST CONTROL OF THE AIRCRAFT DURING AN APPROACH AND LANDING ON RUNWAY 03 AT SCOTTSDALE MUNICIPAL AIRPORT (SDL). THIS WAS THE FIRST SOLO APPROACH OF THE DAY. THE PILOT ^PRIVACY D^ WAS IN CLOSED TRAFFIC FOR RUNWAY 03. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO LAND, THE AIRCRAFT BOUNCED AND DEPARTED THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RUNWAY BETWEEN TAXIWAYS A-6 AND A-7. THE AIRCRAFT CAME TO A STOP JUST PRIOR TO ENTERING THE MAIN RAMP. THE AIRCRAFT SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE RIGHT FORWARD SIDE OF THE ELEVATOR. A ONE TO TWO INCH DENT WAS FOUND ON THE LEADING EDGE. MAINTENANCE HAS DECIDED TO RE-SKIN THE LEADING EDGE OF THE ELEVATOR. THE LONE OCCUPANT DID NOT HAVE ANY INJURIES.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
