## Narrative

As the FAA filed it, in capitals; the FAA replaces private details with ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^.

(-23) THE AIRCRAFT DEPARTED STROTHER FIELD (KWLD) AND WAS MANEUVERING 9 MILES EAST OF ARKANSAS CITY, KS, WHEN IT STRUCK A POWER LINE. THE AIRCRAFT TRAVELED APPROXIMATELY 2/4 MILE TO THE NORTH FROM THE POINT OF IMPACT WITH THE POWER LINE, MADE A 180 DEGREE TURN AND IMPACTED THE GROUND ON A 190 DEGREE HEADING. A POST IMPACT FIRE ENSUED AND THE AIRCRAFT WAS SUBSTANTIALLY DAMAGED. THE PILOT AND PASSENGER ESCAPED FROM THE WRECKAGE WITH NO BURNS, BUT BOTH SUSTAINED SERIOUS INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THE IMPACT WITH THE GROUND.

## The NTSB's investigation of this event (1)

From the NTSB's public API. Aircraft are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported serial number, make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

- [NTSB DEN06LA067](https://openairdocs.org/ntsb/DEN06LA067), Apr 20, 2006: Cessna T210N (N7617N), Arkansas City, KS, destroyed. Probable cause: the pilot's failure to maintain clearance from the guide wire resulting in the airplane striking the wire and subsequently impacting the terrain.

From the FAA Accident/Incident Data System. Reports are matched to registry aircraft by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry's history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model. For accidents, the NTSB's own investigation is the fuller record.
